a midweek excursion

Veteran's day fell on a Wednesday this year, and luckily, I got the day off of work. I had to drive out to San Bernardino in the morning for an appointment on Wednesday, so being told on Tuesday that I didn't have to go in to work the next day was music to my ears. There was no need for me rush through lunch with my parents after my appointment and drive back to the OC in time for work. So, I decided to hang around my parent's place and relax. I planned to read/work on some papers, but my mom had other plans for us. She went to an apple farm a month ago with her friends and decided she wanted to take me there (mainly because this was her opportunity to flee from the store and have my dad work as she played.. with me!)

And so, we set off to Riley's Apple Farm in Oak Glen, CA. I love driving those mountainous roads.. however, I would have enjoyed it more if my mom let me listen to music. She never lets me listen to the radio while driving.. she says it's too loud and distracting. For me, the driver? No, for her, the passenger chatting away on her cell phone. Even when I have the volume down so low that the music is barely audible.. ok, I digress. Anyhow, after a 30 minute drive we arrived at the farm and it was...... deserted. Apart from the few employees/farmhand and a couple with their toddler, we had the farm all to ourselves. Colorful foliage, crisp air, a bit nippy.. autumn, you DO exist in California! I was extremely content.. as was Momma Chung. :)

Though I wish I had my slr with me (whenever I go to any place of interest, I never have my slr on hand), I can always depend on my canon. It is small, portable, and convenient.. thus never leaves my side.. literally. I always keep it in my bag.. and my bag goes everywhere I go. Okay. Enough typing. Picture time!

(note: some photos have been edited, but the majority are straight out of the camera. either way, enjoy!)

yes, we are holding pumpkins. she made me do it.

Due to the lack of apples, we went about a mile up the road and came upon this store.. this store of APPLES GALORE! There was a huge variety of apples, candied apples, apple jams, apple cider, apple juice, apple pies, apple bread, apples, apples, APPLES! Hmm, the spelling of apple looks weird.. and sounds weird after I typed all of this. So much to choose from... we opted for the honey crisp apple and applesauce bread.. which are not pictured.. -_-

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention apple season ended sometime in October.

The end.
